Scientists from the School of Medicine, University of Maryland, USA, have successfully demonstrated for the first time that the emotions that it gives us music that we like to have a positive effect on the health of your cardiovascular system.
A study carried out with music that participants themselves chose because it was that made them feel good and enjoy the music showed that caused the tissue lining the blood vessels dilate to increase blood flow.
This healthy body response was also detected in 2005 by the same researchers, in a study that examined the effects of laughter on health. Scientists warn, however, stressed that the music is just the opposite effect.
The study was conducted with seven male and three female healthy, non smokers, mean age 36 years. It was conducted in four phases: first, participants heard the music they enjoy doing, and the second heard music that made them feel anxious, in the third, it helped relax music and in the fourth, music videos were designed to induce laughter.
The researchers were surprised by the huge difference in the measurements of the blood vessels of the participants before and after listening to the music they liked. There was also a big difference between the results of the measurements after listening to good music after listening to music and stressful.
